The story begins on a continent called Vertaria, it is the year 3015 on the Arcane calender (Not a real Calender, it is fictional for the story). There are several factions on here that vie for domination of Vertaria. They include Humans, Elves, dwarfs, dragons, and a few other assorted humanoids.
The Elves live in relative peace in a massive forest with trees that reach high into the sky(Lets just say they're very massive, at least twice the size of red woods), they don't want to get involved in a war. The Dwarfs live in deep underground mines and cities, they rarely come to the surface, their eyes have become so accustomed to the darkness of the tunnels below that they are required to wear blacked out goggles to go above ground. They often act as high quality arms dealers to humans and other beings. The Humans are embroiled in a sort of civil war. On one side there is the Wolf Empire that came up from nothing and control a major potion of Vertaria. Opposing the Wolf Empire are the human rebels, they have been fighting the Wolf Empire for years.
There are also Vampires, Drakens, and Werewolves living within Vertaria. Vampires are shunned in the world, that is why they hide in a town far north just past the Jade Spires. Werewolves roam the world, unaware or uncaring of what actually goes on in the world. Drakens are militaristic reptilian humanoids that are dangerous and choose to stay out of the conflicts of the humans, although they have been keeping a keen eye on the situation should they decide to get involved.
Dragons have had war before this. The Chromatic dragon fought their metallic cousins over a minor dispute. The war is over now however, there is a small semblance of peace. Dragons now live in all their individual territories. As far as dragons go, chromatics and metallics care little about the human conflict. They could care less about lesser beings or their petty squabbles. All dragons are now separated by gray areas between their individual territories. This way, conflict might be prevented, perhaps hold off the chance of another war(At least for a little while anyway).
There are other sides that have yet to get involved(If they choose to get involved at all that is).
